Cleaning is a chore that doesn’t go away when you make the great leap to full-time RV living – it just takes A LOT less time. Having the right appliance for cleaning makes all the difference. I have never been a “Brand Snob”, but I will tell you that the #1 cleaning appliance you gotta have in your RV is the cordless Dyson V6 vacuum.
Why it’s Perfect for Full-Time RV Living
When we first made our move to the RV, we learned that every single square inch of the RV is premium real estate. There was not a “broom closet” to hide all the various cleaning aids that we had in our brick and mortar house. How many appliances you plug in and the amperage you use is also an issue. Electricity use will be another topic of another post. For now, trust me, you do not want a typical plug-in vacuum.
I was looking for 3 things in a vacuum for the RV:
- Easily Stored
- Powerful Suction
It is Cordless
The Dyson V6 is cordless and has its own little charger that can plug into a normal 110 household plug. You can attach the charging cradle to the wall, or anywhere that is convenient for you. As of right now, I don’t have mine hanging because there is not a plug near a wall space that would be appropriate to attach it.
The entire vacuum measures in at a convenient compact size of 9.8 x 47.5 x 8.2 inches when using the long wand attachment. The “motor head” part of it fits in your hand as easily as picking up a gallon of milk. The attachments that were included with it are all easily detachable and stored in a cabinet, closet, or attached to the charging station. The attachments are simply snapped on the “motor head” when needed.
Aren’t All Vacuums Created Equal?
We bought the first cordless vacuum at a very popular big box store. This was not a Dyson. I personally thought that the “Dyson” vacuums were just overpriced versions of what every store carried. Needless to say, I was wrong. If you make one investment, (ok, a few investments – because I have a few other favorite products) invest in this vacuum. You will not be sorry, it is well worth every penny.
What can it do?
It SUCKS! LOL!
The first cordless vacuum I purchased had a difficult time picking up the smallest pieces of debris on the floor. Add in one small dog and two cats, and that vacuum was no match for our life. I ended up selling it in my daughter’s garage sale three weeks after purchasing it.
Then the Dyson came into our life. It can handle animal hair, cat litter, and dirt tracked in from outside with no problem. One push of a button and you can empty the debris container right into the trash can when you are done. It has a filter in it that the manufacturer suggests washing once a month. All of the instructions are included in the box on how to maintain the vacuum.
You will not regret this purchase for you full-time RV life. It is well worth the investment.
